Orchard View Elementary

March 2026

enrollment

Dear OVE Families,

Kindergarten registration will open online on March 1st through the Middlebury Community School's website. If you know any families with incoming kindergarten students, please encourage them to register so we can begin welcoming them into our Eagle Family.!
We are also excited to once again partner with the South Bend Cubs for the Reading Challenge beginning March 2nd and running for four weeks. Students who meet their reading goals will earn a free ticket to attend OVE Day at the Ballpark on Sunday, May 3rd, at 2:05 PM, with student recognition on the field at 1:15 PM.
Our 2nd and 3rd grade students will participate in the IREAD testing window from March 2nd through March 13th. Please help your child do their very best by ensuring they are well rested, eat breakfast, and arrive at school on time each day. Kindergarten and 1st grade students who qualified for the High Ability Post Screener will complete their testing during the window that extends through the end of March.
We hope you will join us for Swim Night on March 24th at 6:00 PM at the high school pool for a fun evening of swimming and community. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on March 25th from 3:00–6:00 PM, with communication coming directly from your child’s teacher. Please note there will be No School on March 27th.
Finally, we know that February brought a wave of illness for many of our students and families. As we head into spring, we are hopeful that warmer weather will bring healthier days ahead. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home so they can rest and fully recover. When they are feeling better, consistent attendance is so important. Daily routines and being present at school play a big role in supporting the success of our young Eagle learners.
As always, feel free to reach out to me by phone at (574-825-5405) or email at martink@mcsin-k12.org with any questions, suggestions, or concerns.

Fly Eagles Fly,

From Mrs. Palmer

As we continue to work on how we can SOAR with behaviors at OVE, our focus has centered on self-control. Students are learning how their bodies and emotions are much like the engine of a car that can fluctuate with "speeds" throughout the day. We know that all feelings are normal and okay, but our response to strong emotions - both positive and negative - can become problematic without self-control. As we work towards improving in this often-tricky area, teachers and staff are reiterating that without self-control, all aspects of school life are impacted. During lessons, students are encouraged to Stop, Think, and Make a choice that will allow for success socially, behaviorally, and academically! Please join us in continuing these conversations at home!

LINQ Connect
Student Meal Accounts
OVE parents, did you know that you can easily deposit money into your student’s meal account? When you register with the Linq Connect website, you can make deposits, set up recurring deposits, OR just use the website to monitor what your child is purchasing in the OVE cafeteria. You can also set up notifications to let you know when your child’s balance is low. In addition, you can apply for free or reduced meals on the same website at any time during the school year. Go to linqconnect.com from any computer, tablet or mobile device and create a free account. There is also a mobile app available in the Google Play Store and Apple Store. Payment can be sent to school with your student in the form of cash or check payable to OVE. Please make sure the payment is clearly marked with your student's first and last name, and that your student turns their payment into their teacher first thing in the morning.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Gini Bennett, Bookkeeper, at 574-825-5094.
