December 2025

Balloon parade

Dear OVE Families,

The holiday season is in full swing, and I’m reminded of it every time I walk through our school lobby and hallways. Everything is so festive that our school truly gives off feelings of comfort, coziness, and excitement. If you need a holiday pick-me-up, feel free to stop by—I promise you’ll leave in a better mood than when you arrived! This joy is a direct credit to our outstanding staff who pour so much into our school and students each day.

We have many exciting and festive events planned throughout the month. Here is just a small sampling:

  • December 4: Choir Performance and PTO Family Night
  • December 5: Market Day
  • December 11: 2nd Grade Music Program
  • December 12: Kindergarten Gingerbread Day
  • December 19: Staff & Student Christmas Sing-Along

As we move through this season, I hope everyone enjoys a safe and happy holiday. There is so much to be thankful for. Thank you for your continued partnership as we close out the first semester of the 2025 school year.

Season’s Greetings & Fly Eagles Fly,
Mr. Martin, Principal

Attendance

A big thank you to all parents and guardians who are conscientious about ensuring their student(s) attend school daily! Our goal as a school is 96% attendance, which means students can miss up to 8 days of school and still meet the goal (95.55%). We understand that things come up, such as illness, family emergencies, or other unavoidable situations, that may prevent students from attending school. Both excused and unexcused absences count toward the 96% attendance goal, which is why it is still very important to contact the school to report any absences. Please note, after a student accumulates a certain number of unexcused absences, we are required to meet with the family, and if absences continue, a report must be filed with the state. All that said, thank you for your continued efforts in getting your student to school every day, and for notifying us when they are absent. Your support makes a big difference in their success!

From Mrs. Palmer

Body Safety lessons began in the month of November and will continue into December. Initial lessons focused on Safe Adults, Healthy Relationships, and a review of our 5 Safety Rules (previously taught). Students at OVE can always count on us to be available if they find themselves in need of help, and open dialogue at an age-appropriate level creates a sense of safety here at school. Please follow up with your students as you see appropriate, and never hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Eagle Nurse

From Ms. Aimee

  • Please pack snow pants and boots. Students are not allowed to leave the black top during recess if they do not have snow pants and boots.
  • Make sure students are dressed appropriately. Students should have coats, hats, and gloves with them on a daily basis.
  • Please pack a change of clothes with students. Accidents happen.
  • If you would like to be notified of nurse visits, SchoolCare is a secure system that sends you notifications whenever your child visits the school clinic. Signing up is easy, the link can easily be located on your PowerSchool account. If you need any assistance signing up, feel free to contact me.

Please call the office to report your child's attendance. You may tell the teacher if your child will be absent, but you must call the office so we can change the attendance code. Thank you!

LINQ Connect
Student Meal Accounts
OVE parents, did you know that you can easily deposit money into your student’s meal account? When you register with the Linq Connect website, you can make deposits, set up recurring deposits, OR just use the website to monitor what your child is purchasing in the OVE cafeteria. You can also set up notifications to let you know when your child’s balance is low. In addition, you can apply for free or reduced meals on the same website at any time during the school year. Go to linqconnect.com from any computer, tablet or mobile device and create a free account. There is also a mobile app available in the Google Play Store and Apple Store. Payment can be sent to school with your student in the form of cash or check payable to OVE. Please make sure the payment is clearly marked with your student's first and last name, and that your student turns their payment into their teacher first thing in the morning.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Gini Bennett, Bookkeeper, at 574-825-5094.
