Orchard View Elementary

September 2025

First Day of School 2025
Dear OVE Families,
We are off to a fantastic start to the new school year! At our opening staff meeting, we officially adopted a new mission and vision statement for OVE. This has been a work in progress, and we are excited to share the following:

Mission: Ensuring all students achieve at high levels in a safe and supportive environment.

Vision: OVE will become the standard of student success and learning.

I love these statements because they clarify our purpose and clearly define what we aspire to be as a school.

As you probably know, our new playground has also set the bar pretty high—both physically and metaphorically! A huge shout out goes to our PTO, along with the dedicated parents and staff, for making this vision a reality.

Looking ahead, all K–2 students will take the state dyslexia screener in September. We use this assessment to identify and support students who may benefit from early literacy interventions. In addition, K–2 students will take the NWEA assessment the week of September 8. Our third graders will participate in the ILEARN checkpoint later in the month, which gives us valuable information aligned with the state ILEARN assessment scheduled for April. While there is a lot of testing, what matters most is how we use these results to meet each student’s instructional needs.

Our school ‘Fun-Raiser’ is scheduled for September 15–26. More information will be sent home as we get closer to the dates. All funds raised go directly back to students—supporting field trips, educational software, assemblies, rewards, field day apparel, treats, and more.

Whether you are new to OVE or returning, thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. It’s a responsibility we take very seriously, and we value having you as a partner in this journey. I encourage every family to find a way to get involved—whether through the PTO, mentoring, chaperoning, volunteering in classrooms, or even substitute teaching.

We are thrilled to have your child as an OVE Eagle, and we can’t wait to soar to new heights in 2025–2026!

OVE parents, did you know that you can easily deposit money into your student’s meal account? When you register with the Linq Connect website, you can make deposits, set up recurring deposits, OR just use the website to monitor what your child is purchasing in the OVE cafeteria. You can also set up notifications to let you know when your child’s balance is low. In addition, you can apply for free or reduced meals on the same website at any time during the school year. Go to linqconnect.com from any computer, tablet or mobile device and create a free account. There is also a mobile app available in the Google Play Store and Apple Store. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Gini Bennett, Bookkeeper, at 574-822-5094.
IF YOUR CHILD RECEIVES FREE OR REDUCED PRICED MEALS YOU WILL NEED TO REAPPLY BY SEPTEMBER 30, 2025. YOUR STATUS FROM LAST SCHOOL WILL EXPIRE IF YOU DO NOT REAPPLY!
